In April of 2006, I did the 'Chicken Run' in Colorado. Basically the 'Chicken Run' consists of visiting the grouse and prairie chicken leks around the state. A lek is a sight where the males come strut their stuff and compete for females. Each species has it own unique display which usually consists of strange sounds, foot stomping, struting, and inflations of colored skin throat sacks.Traveling companions were Jim Brighton, Ed Boyd, and Jim Stasz. Over the course of nine days we visited five leks and drove about 1600 miles. The trip was great, I would recomend it to anyone who has ever considered it.
